Begin by making an armature in this shape. Use gauge 22-30 for smaller dolls and 16-18 gauge for larger dolls. Cloth covered floral wire or picture hanging wire make excellent armatures.

An armature, (doll skeleton), adds strength to your little person.

This armature is about 4 inches. It's a good size for a Faery.

Don't you think so?

Now take a piece of your clay, about this size. Form a rectangular shape around the top of the armature. Add two eyes. Use glass or metal beads,maybe... rhinestones? You can also bake two small balls of clay and paint them. Insert into unbaked clay.

Now bake wire + clay in 250' oven for 10

Mold clay into shape shown. Place on baked form and blend and smooth edges to attch to head shape. Tools for this include Your fingers: (always available), dental tools, crochet hooks, toothpicks, darning needles...Experiment!

Form cheeks with a barbell shape and attach to face form.
